Jim Wittenburg and Terry BoultTerrance Boult, Founder and CEO

Securics is Dr. Boult's third startup involvement, the first is still ongoing with installations worldwide, the second as acquired after having achieved major installations of its security technology in US Ports and with the US Military. Dr. Boult has over 25 years of experience in image-based and security technologies. Boult has an extensive funding record with over 15 million in funding for security related research in biometrics and surveillance over the past decade.

Dr. Boult was part of the DARPA Human Identification at a Distance Program, where he greatly expanded his work in biometrics and lead to some of the technologies underlying Securics. He is well known in the vision and biometrics community, serving a founding member and VP of Conferences for the IEEE Biometrics Council, and the Chairman for the IEEE Patterns Analysis and Machine Intelligence Technical Committee.

Dr. Boult earned all his degrees at Columbia University with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics in 1983, and his M.S. and Ph.D degrees in computer science in 1984 and 1986 respectively. Dr. Boult then served on the faculty of Columbia University for 8 years. In 1994 he moved to Lehigh University. At Lehigh was an endowed professor in the EECS department, and eventually became the founding chairman of Lehigh University's CSE Department. In 2003 he moved to University of Colorado at Colorado Springs where he is El Pomar Endowed Chair of Innovation and Security. He has received an NSF Presidential Young Investigator award, and has won teaching awards at both Columbia University and Lehigh University, was named CU Innovator of the year for UCCS and was a finalist for the EE Times 2007 Innovator of the year.

Jim Wittenburg, President and Chief Operating Officer

James R. Wittenburg has over 30 years experience in the high tech industry, manufacturing, and utilities. He began his career with Schlumberger and Rockwell International. In 1985 he founded his first venture-backed company, which developed the first on-line reservation system for the travel industry. He has held President and CEO positions at start-up and emerging companies in telecommunications, software, and computer industries. Jim is also the Managing Partner of Bajardin Ventures, LLC. and is on the board of directors of Peak Venture Group is the Director of the Southern Colorado Investment Group, an organization sponsored by the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce consisting of private, accredited investors interested local investment opportunities.
